Lead times, shipping & refunds

Everything here is built by hand, one at a time. That changes how ordering works compared with buying something off a shelf, so this page says exactly what to expect.

Lead times, shipping and refunds on this page cover the hardware I build and ship. A website build and its monthly care plan run on their own terms — ask me for them before you pay and you will have them the same day. The privacy section at the bottom covers the whole site.

Everything is made to order

Nothing sits in a warehouse. When you order, the build starts. Current lead times, counted from the day payment clears:

If a build is going to run past its stated lead time, you get an email before the date passes, not after. If a delay isn't acceptable to you at that point, you can cancel for a full refund.

Shipping

• Free shipping within the continental United States.
• Shipped insured with tracking. The tracking number is emailed the day it goes out.
• Alaska, Hawaii and international orders are quoted separately — email before ordering.
• Risk of loss passes on delivery. If a carrier loses or damages a package, that's mine to resolve, not yours.

Changing or cancelling an order

• Before the build starts — cancel for any reason, full refund, no questions.
• Once the build has started — I refund what I haven't already spent. Materials and parts bought specifically for your order are deducted, and I'll show you the receipts.
• Once it has shipped — the returns section below applies.

To cancel or change anything, email twade@builtbytyler.com with your order number.

If something arrives damaged or faulty

Tell me within 14 days of delivery and I'll repair it, replace it, or refund it — your choice. Photographs help but aren't a condition. Shipping both ways is on me.

This covers workmanship and shipping damage. It doesn't cover crash damage, water damage, or parts worn out in normal use — these are flying and moving machines, and they do get broken. I'll always quote a repair.

Returns on made-to-order builds

Because every build is made specifically for you, finished builds are not returnable for change of mind. Under California law, custom-ordered goods are exempt from the general refund requirements (California Attorney General — Refund Policies).

That exemption is not a shield for bad work. If a build isn't right, the faulty-goods section above applies and I would rather fix it than argue about it.

Payment

Payment is taken by Stripe on their own secure checkout page. Card details are never entered on, stored on, or transmitted through builtbytyler.com. Your statement will read BUILTBYTYLER.

Custom engineering work

Custom projects are quoted individually and run on a written scope agreed before any money changes hands. Those terms sit in the quote and override this page where they differ.

Privacy — what this site collects

This site is run by one person. Here is the whole of what it collects and what happens to it.

• When you email me — your name, your email address, and whatever you write.
• When you use the order form — your name, your email address, the quantity and any notes. There is no database behind that form. It either opens your own email program or hands you to Stripe.
• When you pay — Stripe collects your name, email and billing address on their own checkout page and shows them to me afterwards. Card details are never entered on, stored on, or passed through builtbytyler.com.

That is the list. No accounts, no logins, no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no cookies set by this site.

Who else sees it. Stripe, for payments. Cloudflare, which hosts the site and sees the request that loads a page. Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces and therefore sees your IP address and browser when a page loads. Nobody else. I do not sell your details, I do not share them for advertising, and I do not add anyone to a mailing list from this site.

How long I keep it. Emails and orders stay in my inbox and in Stripe for as long as I need them for the job, and for tax records afterwards — seven years for anything with money attached. Everything else goes when you ask.

Seeing it, changing it, deleting it. Email twade@builtbytyler.com and ask. I will tell you what I hold within a week, correct anything wrong, and delete whatever I am not required to keep. No form and no fee.

Do Not Track. This site does not follow you to other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off and the site does not respond to those signals. No third party collects information about what you do across other websites through this one.

Changes to this section. If it changes in a way that matters, the new version goes up here with a new date below, and anyone with an open order gets an email.
